you might be wondering, "red what the fuck is this niche famicom game and why do you have a web shrine based on it instead of idk castlevania or mario".
well, sd gundam gaiden knight gundam monogatari was a game released in 1990. it was developed by TOSE and published by bandai.
this game roughly follows the storyline of the first entry of the sd gundam gaiden carddass series, that being sieg zeon hen.
i say roughly because for one, the storyline involves knight gundam saving princess frau as opposed to being destined to stop satan gundam, tho that did happen in the game so im not gonna dwell too much on the comparison. if anything, i might point that out with lacroan heroes (which i might make a seperate web shrine for it if i feel like it).
the main premise is that, this game is gundam except the mobile suits are sentient medieval knights. and you know how much i nerd about knights. skul.
uhh. yeah. this game is a dragon quest clone. but its a pretty good one overall but its mostly just my 2017 nostalgia creeping in

HOW THE HELL DID I FOUND THIS GAME
i first discovered this game back in 2017. my old family computer (as in, a computer the family used. not to be mistaken for the actual famicom this game was released on) had this nes emulator. i didnt know how to use it, nor do i know how to play half of the games there (i also dont understand japanese at the time). but this game was available for me to play at the time, which i believe was retrieved from an nes rom collection. regardless of how the hell the rom was available on the computer in the first place.
i was invested by the story and was curious to find all the information i could find about it. like i did with lacroan heroes, i just used google translate and try to find results with what i could find.
another reason why i was so invested in this game was because i was a HUGE tolkien fan at the time, so seeing any fantasy related thing was like my cocomelon and the time.
ever since 2019, ivde decided to replay this game every year for fun.

you can find this on pretty much any nes rom sites but i cant guarantee the safety. i just use cdromance since it has both the original jp version as well as the fan translation patched. if you prefer to do the patching yourself, consider taking a look at the page for the translation here!
why cant i just directly link you ask? im not gonna risk exposing rom and emulation sites like that publicly. i know im not that famous, but im not risking it. especially since this game (and many other nes games) meant a lot to me.
IMPORTANT NOTE: i should mention that, when you skip the cutscene after continuing the game, theres a part in the opening that contains flashing light!!

cool tips
- guntank's attack doesnt do much damage. consider utilising his attack spells more!
- you can basically cheese any high level enemies with guncannon. his attacks are hella boosted, and sometimes the rng just lets him give out high dmg. i once somehow beat zeong with only him left alive back in 2021. shits crazy
